I have been a practising graphic designer since
1986, with wide-ranging interests in the visual arts. A recent return to photgraphy
has resulted in the exhibition ‘Open air, closed space’ at the Shoreditch
Gallery in London. The show included images from the beaches of the south and
east coasts of England and the English Lake District. My aim is not simply to
document what others have already seen in what are largely familiar surroundings,
but often to find smaller scale drama in shape, texture, scale and contrast.
